AMERICA'S GOT TALENT, ROSIE ON BIOGRAPHY, DOING HOWARD AND CURB
Rosie and the crew began the show today talking about the 2-hour episode of America's Got Talent they all watched last night.  They spoke about the specific performers and overall Rosie commented on what a well-done show it is.  She loves how the show allows the viewers to get to know the contestants on a personal level and she also loves the judges!  When talking about the contestants they began to talk about "the strong man" and Rosie said she could really see him working in an act in Vegas.  She then reminisced about the times she used to perform at The Riviera and would have to do 3 shows a day which was exhausting!  No one thought that Gabourey Sidibe's mom did a good job last night. 

Tonight is the premiere of Rosie's episode on Biography!   Tune in at 10pm on the Biography Channel to see it!  I will be hosting a "viewing party" on my Facebook page so if you're watching it live tonight and you'd like to comment come and join me!  HERE is a direct link to the discussion!  Jeannie and Janette are in the special too!  Rosie said she and Jeannie will be watching it in Miami together.  Janette is nervous about the special and about her answers to their questions.  Suzanne Somers is in it too! 

Rosie again said that it seems like there is no one listening sometimes because there is no live audience with radio and she is still  amazed when people come up to her and tell her they listen.  Janette said the first time that Rosie did Howard she thought it was fantastic.  Rosie said that was because she made a deal with herself.  If she was going to go on Howard Stern, she was going to be authentic and answer whatever he asked her. She did admit that there was a time when the conversation leaned towards sex toys that she sort of skirted around the question but beyond that she was totally honest.  

Rosie recently taped an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm and she shared that in the episode, she and Larry David have a crush on the same girl!  She said that the show is primarily Improv and the conversation led toward a little "sex toy talk" and it was awkward because she brought Chelsea along to the taping.  Rosie said she thinks that Larry is "perfect in every way," as a comedian and as a man.  She had the same sentiments for Jeff Garlin.  The staff also loves Susie Essman.  Susie was booked to do the show on Veterans Day last year and the conversation about war and our Veterans was so sad and serious they couldn't find a way to transition into her interview so they had to cancel.  Rosie still feels badly about it and Janette explained that that was the first week of Rosie Radio and they were still getting used to the format.  She said if that would happen today they would "post tape" the interview and air it at a later date.   

RO'S GOING TO IRELAND, SCARY AIRLINE STORIES, HEADING TO MIAMI, TROS IN LA
Rosie said to tell Shoshana (her assistant as well as a segment producer) that she's not going to Ireland for 2 weeks in a row.  Rosie is going to Ireland to  research her ancestors for an episode of Who Do You Think You Are.  Bobby thinks it's so cool that Rosie's going to Ireland.  Deirdre offered to go with Rosie and said they would have a great time!   Rosie said that her problem with it isn't that she doesn't want to go but that she doesn't want to be away from her kids for 2 whole weeks.  

Brendan talked about the flight from Dulles out west that hit such bad turbulence over the Rocky Mountains that 30 people were hospitalized and they had to make an emergency landing in Denver.  HERE is a link to an article.  Brendan read from the article to everyone's horror.  Bobby was in an airplane that was diverted to a different airport once because the turbulence was so bad and he said he'll never forget it.  He was sitting next to two young boys traveling alone and a woman across from him was screaming, "We're all going to die!" He tried to get the woman to get a hold of herself and joked with the kids that it was like they were on a roller coaster.  Rosie was once on an airplane where the oxygen masks dropped down.  She was on a flight with Lois Smith, a former agent on their way to tape an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show and the flight turbulence was so bad one of the flight attendants started crying!  Rosie said that if you're afraid on a flight you can usually take a look at the flight attendants and if they're not worried you don't need to be.  She said it freaked her out when she saw the flight attendant crying!  The flight ended up landing two states away from their destination and they had to drive to the taping.  Bobby said that flight attendants are amazing and on his JetBlue flight a man was having chest pains during the turbulence and a flight attendant crawled down the aisle to bring oxygen to a passenger. 

Rosie, Jeannie and Jackie "and all the twerps" are going on Jet Blue to Miami this weekend.  Jeannie is bringing her 2 daughters, Jackie is bringing her two daughters and Rosie is bringing her two daughters plus Blakey.   Rosie didn't know if they would get the seats in the front with the extra leg room but said that when she travels with Tracy and her kids they usually get those because Tracy's kids have special needs.  Rosie joked that she has special needs and needs those seats.  Janette prefers the exit row seats because of the extra space.  Janette said she's okay with taking on the extra responsibility that the seats require and said she'd be good for the job because she's committed to showing no emotion in public.  Janette said she thinks she's going to die in a plane crash every time she flies.  Bobby and Rosie never worry they are going to die in a plane crash.

Deirdre, Janette and Rosie remembered the time they filmed The Rosie O'Donnell Show in L.A. for five weeks during El Nino.  Rosie said it rained everyday they were out there.  When they were there Rosie got in Deirdre's face and said "WE ARE NEVER DOING THIS AGAIN!"  It was only the second year of the show and Rosie stayed at Dan Akroyd's house.  One day, she couldn't get the gate open and she had to climb over the gate with Parker who was 2 years old at the time and Chelsea who was only a newborn.  Deirdre said that the lobby of the hotel where she was staying flooded!

Rosie said the only thing that worries her about this trip to Miami is that Parker isn't with them.  She said it's fine if they all die together but she doesn't want to only leave one behind.  Janette feels the same way.  She doesn't worry as much if she's flying with Barry because she's okay if they die together but she worries when Barry flies alone because she can't bare the thought of losing him.   Deirdre admitted she gets a little claustrophobic.  Pete grew up on airplanes flying all over the world so he's not afraid.  Janette said her father did everything he could to traumatize her when it comes to flying.  Janette also said a mercenary she once dated said it's harder for a sold out flight to crash so it's better to be on a full plane than an empty one.  

LILO IS IN JAIL, DREAMS OF LOST LOVED ONES AND BP IS A BUNCH OF LIARS
Rosie and the staff talked briefly about how Lindsay Lohan has now entered jail.  Rosie said she feels bad for Lindsay but at the same time she feels as if she's an addict and she needs help.  Bobby said he thinks time in jail will help her.  Rosie asked if anyone could think of any other celebrities that have come through rehab and an arrest successfully and Deirdre listed Robert Downey Junior.  Rosie hopes that Lindsay will use Robert as an inspiration.  Deirdre thinks that she will recover if she removes herself from her parents.  Janette hopes that her therapist in rehab will help her with that.  Deirdre said that Lindsay's mother Dina used to party with Lindsay at the clubs when she was underage!  Rosie said that Dina is from an area close to where Rosie is from and she does not enjoy her.  Rosie said she hopes Lindsay gets her act together. 

Rosie said she's going with her brother Eddie to Ireland and she thinks there is a surprise there for her when she gets there.  Rosie then talked about the dreams she used to have about her mom.  In one of those dreams her mom was back in Ireland still alive.  In another dream her mom had a whole other family and Rosie remembers just trying to get her mom's attention. She asked listeners to call in who have had the same types of dreams about lost parents.  Rosie recommended the book Motherless Daughters: The Legacy of Loss by Hope Edelman for women who lost their mother either by death or abandonment.  Rosie said the first time she had a dream that her mother was still alive she remembers not wanting to wake up.  Rosie and Janette said that death either makes your loved one a saint or super-villainous.  Janette said the reality is that they're probably more somewhere in between.   

Jeannie texted Rosie during the show to alert her to the fact that her mother was listening today and Rosie told a story about Jeannie's dad.  Rosie said she used to do anything to make Jeannie's dad laugh and he was famous for parking in the furthest parking spot when they would go shopping and Rosie would make fun of him for it.  She used to call him "daddy jerky man" and so they started to call Jeannie's mom "mommy jerky woman."  Rosie also said that Jeannie's mom had a really fat dog that they called "piggy dog."  Rosie said she used to love to go to Jeannie's house because they always had the fudge striped cookies.  Rosie still remembers Jeannie and Jackie's phone numbers from their childhoods and listed the numbers on air!  Then she felt badly because she wasn't sure if Jeannie's mom still had the same phone number!

Rosie said that people need to read the article on Huffington Post about the doctored photo that BP released that was supposed to represent all of the people at BP hard at work.  Turns out it's all FAKE!  She wondered why on Earth we are trusting BP with this cleanup effort?!  She again quietly whispered that Obama needs to seize their assets.  HERE is a link to the article she was referring to. 

CALLERS WHO DREAM OF LOST LOVED ONES
Rosie took several calls from listeners who shared their dreams of lost loved ones.  One caller was a faithful listener (much to Rosie's surprise) and has switched over to Rosie Radio from Howard.  She still listens to Howard on his repeats but she listens to Rosie everyday too.  The listener's father died when she was only 7 years old and her younger sister died a year later.  Rosie talked with the caller about how they survived such tragedy and they shared stories of their dreams of their lost family members.  Rosie and the caller agreed that if The Oprah Winfrey Show had been around in the 1970s it would have helped them realize that they were not alone in their grief.

Rosie took another call from a listener who lost a son in a helicopter accident while he was serving in the Navy.  His body was never recovered.  The caller said that adds an extra layer of difficulty because she still feels as if he could show up at anytime.  Her son was only 20 years old when he died and was killed in 1991.  Rosie talked with the caller about how the loss can actually be harder when there's no closure by burying the body of your lost loved one.  The caller thought it was harder and said that her family has a gravestone  to visit but it brings her no comfort because he isn't there, he's in the ocean. Rosie thanked the listener for calling in and for her son's service to our country.   

Rosie told the very touching story about when she and her sister were brought up to say goodbye to her mother at her mother's wake.  She said that everyone in the room started to cry loudly as she and her sister stood at her mother's coffin.  Rosie remembers her sister asking if their mommy was sleeping and then they were picked up, put in back of the old Buick and taken home.  It was thought that it would be too upsetting for them to go to the funeral.  Rosie said that if she had never actually seen her mother's body it may have been even more difficult for her to accept the fact that she's never coming back.  She emphasized greatly with the last caller.  If you still haven't listened or downloaded the audio book version of Find Me, Rosie tells this story in it.  And if you've never heard it, I highly recommend it.  It will break your heart but at the same time she is so revealing and so honest in it.  It is a must hear for any Rosie fan.  Here is a LINK to download it. 

Lastly, Rosie took a call from a listener whose father died when she was 15 years old who still dreams about him.  She said in all her dreams she is angry at him and he is really horrible to her.  Rosie said in her dreams her mom is always unreachable.  The caller now has children in her teens and she and Rosie commiserated. 

TRYING TO BE SUGAR-FREE, CORTISOL AND BELLY FAT
Rosie said that she's doing a good job in her attempt to eat less sugar.  For example, last night she only had 2 chocolate chip cookies when normally she would have had more.  She said if it isn't sugar, it's pretzels that get her.  Rosie described a product called Unique Pretzels that she tried this weekend.  She really enjoyed them!  Pete looked them up and said they were 110 calories for only 3 of them.  Shoshana told Rosie about the new Pretzel M&Ms!  Rosie said that her journey to eating less sugar is "an evolution, not a revolution" and said there would be a transition process.  Bobby recommended Rosie try honey in her tea instead of sugar.   

Janette went to her nutritionist yesterday and asked him about belly fat and if it's always related to cortisol.  The nutritionist said yes.  He explained that when your cortisol goes up, your insulin goes up and then there is a crash.  When your blood sugar crashes you crave sugar.  The more sugar you have eaten the more your blood sugar will crash and the more sugar you will crave.  He said that belly fat effects Estrogen, your serotonin levels and your thyroid levels.  He said that is why depressed people crave sugar.  Rosie wanted to know how you reduce cortisol.  Janette said exercise and her supplements have helped her.  Bobby also said that mediation, music therapy, massage, sex, laughing, Vitamin C, Black Tea and makeup reduces the cortisol level. Janette said that she's learned that her cortisol goes up at night.  Rosie said that means her stress level increases at night and they said they would talk about why that is during the commercial break.  Janette said that the worst things that have happened to her in her life have happened to her during the day.  Janette also has struggled with insomnia in the past and said she once didn't sleep for two months.  Rosie said she never has problems sleeping. 

SLEEPING WITH YOUR KIDS AND IF IT'S A PROBLEM
Rosie said that she has always let her kids sleep in the bed with her. Rosie never had a problem with it but Kelli couldn't sleep at all with the kids in bed with them.   Pete said he is the same way and can't sleep when the kids are in bed with them.   Pete's kids move around a lot and kick him when they sleep in their bed and he said that it interferes with his sleep and he's constantly up at night.  He said if his wife isn't sleeping then he's not sleeping either.  Pete said his wife will wake him up and tell him to get the kids to either stop kicking or to put them back in their beds.  He said that he will move them but they always come back. 

Rosie said she had a huge bed and her kids can make borders with their Linda Dano pillows that no one is allowed to cross.  She said there is plenty of room for them to sleep with her.

Barbara, Pete's wife, texted Pete and told Rosie to "suck it."  Rosie told Barbara to "suck it back, Barbara." And then she said "In fact, if you had sucked it, you wouldn't be pregnant!"  Good one!

Rosie then took several callers on the sleeping topic.  One caller wanted to spend as much time as possible with their youngest so they allowed him to sleep with them but now she wishes they wouldn't have ever started it.  One caller was from Rosie's hometown and still allows her teenage sons to sleep with her.  Rosie talked to the caller for a bit and discovered that the caller had been married to a man for 11 years and then left her husband when she fell in love with a woman.  Rosie asked the caller lots of questions about what that is like for her kids and for her Ex.  She said that they have a very functional dysfunctional family and somehow it all works out.  Rosie said that she's always wondered if it's harder for kids when their parents come out later in life.

Rosie then introduced Sarah Symons who is the founder of MadeBySurvivors.org.  Rosie asked Sarah how she came up with the idea of this charity and Sarah told her story.  Instead of trying to recapture Sarah's story here go to her website and read her story in her own words.  It's moving and she does a much better job explaining it than I would here.  Here is a direct link. 

Basically after seeing a film about children and women being sold into the sex slave industry Sarah was inspired to help. 

Rosie asked Sarah how these children are put into slavery and Sarah said that it happens in a variety of ways.  She said that most are impoverished and sometimes they have lost their parents, are living in war or their parents are tricked and told it will be a better life. 

Sarah went to Nepal to visit the organization from the movie she had seen and she was able to meet some of the survivors and was blown away.  She asked the director what she could do to help and the director said they need help getting reintegrated into society.  She also said they need to make them slavery proof and the way to do that was through education and getting jobs.  Sarah wondered how they could employ the girls and then saw a room piled high with beaded crafts they had made.  Sarah was determined to find a market for their crafts in the U.S. and use the sales to help them.

Sarah and Rosie talked about how sex trafficking is happening all over the world and even in the United States.  She said that children are sold into commercial sex - both prostitution and porn videos. 

Rosie couldn't imagine how Sarah was able to function after hearing the stories she has heard doing her work.  Sarah said she has three choices.  She said she could make herself sick and dwell on it, she could turn away or she could choose love and be the light in the darkness.  Sarah said that the girls look up to her with so much love, recovery and courage and if she has anything to do with their recovery from what they have been through, that makes it worth it.

Sarah said that her kids and her husband are also involved now.  Her husband left a very high powered job to help with the operational aspects of the organization.  He was then sucked in to the beauty that was being created through their work.  She said for three years they made nothing and invested all their savings into growing their non-profit. 

Sarah said that there are lots of ways people can help and it is all on their website.  One of the ways is to agree to host a party and share facts but some hopeful stories too.  Then share the crafts with people and tell people how they can help and how they can make donations.  Sarah said that her organization raises about a half million dollars a year with the products that they've sold. 

Sarah told Rosie stories of two women who have been inspirational to her.  One of the women was featured in the film The Day My God Died that had been Sarah's original inspiration for her non-profit.  To see that documentary go to  Thedaymygoddied.com and order a copy of it. 

Rosie admitted that the problems of the world often overwhelms her which is why she mainly concerns herself with the problems of the U.S.  

Sarah told Rosie the story of Anita who was trafficked at age 12.  She was drugged and woke up in a brothel in where she will tell you she never really came back from.  She was sexually abused, malnourished and some of the girls are even forced to have abortions.  There was no means of escape and if you tried you would surely be killed.  She was rescued in a raid and has since recovered.  She is now educated and works at a border station stopping cars looking for girls who seem like they too might be a victim of sex trafficking.  She's no longer a victim, now she's an activist.  

The second story Sarah told Rosie was about a girl named Pushpa from Bangladesh.  Her parents couldn't care for her so they married her when she was 10 or 11 years old.  She moved to the city with her husband in India and her landlord trafficked her.  She has since recovered and is now working and making her own money selling her crafts.  She shares her story with other women that are rescued and tells them that this is not the end, it is only the beginning.  She is full of pride and hope now. 

Rosie was truly humbled by Sarah's internal fortitude and how she faces injustices one on one like she does. 

Rosie asked how people can help.  Sarah said the easiest way people can help is by visiting their website.  The second way to help is by remembering the girls and joining their mailing list and facebook page.  Sarah explained that every penny they raise goes to the girls because they have an operational grant that runs the program. 

Sarah said you can also sponsor a child and send them to school for only $30-$45 a month!  Deirdre, Janette and Rosie all did it!  Sarah said it will change the girl's lives forever.

Sarah said they just rescued 50 children out of a quarry during hard labor, some as young as 3 and 4.  Rosie said she would sponsor a child but she needs to be sure not to tell her too many horrible things about the girl or she's going to have to fly over and take one.  Sarah jokes with Rosie about adopting one more and Rosie said she already has 10 children and many with special needs!  And Rosie's pretty sure she has special needs of her own! 

Sarah ended the interview with Rosie simply saying that the beauty is greater than the evil that was done to these girls.  Rosie called Sarah a superhero and thanked her for the interview.

Rosie then said there is a guy on the Howard Stern Show named Mikey who does song parodies and he put together a song for Rosie.  The song was to the tune Jessie's Girl and all the lyrics were changed.  The chorus of the song is "I wish that I was Rosie's girl. I wish that I was Rosie's girl.  I need to find a way to grow a snatch" (instead of how do I find a woman like that!).  Rosie laughed hysterically and closed the show.

In case you missed it...

ROSIE'S MAKING A CHANGE, FRESHBREASTS, BELLY FAT AND SUGAR CRASHES
Bobby sang today's theme song and he's getting better and better and more and more jazzy!  Rosie said that everyone in the studio was in a better mood than yesterday (which really meant her because she was the only one in a really bad mood yesterday).  She said she's making a big decision with inspiration from Janette (who recently stopped smoking pot after 25 years), she's going to try to get off sugar!

Yesterday they talked about the products "Fresh Breasts" and "Fresh Balls" that you can purchase off of SoFreshSoDry.com.  These products are deodorant for your breasts and balls in case you couldn't catch that by the name.  A co-worker named Dave had some in his office "because they are a Sirius sponsor" (hmmm, hmmmm, that's what they all say)  so he brought it in today for the staff.  Jeannie tried it on her hands to feel it's consistency and said although she thinks it smells lovely it leaves a chalky white stain on your skin.  Pete tested it out (not on his hands) and said it feels really good!  Jeannie's going to try it because she sometimes gets some 3rd nipple irritation and Janette said she's going to try it too! 

Rosie watched an episode of Dr. Oz where he talks about belly fat.  She often wonders why the majority of her weight goes to her tummy.  Bobby then went into a very detailed description of how our bodies metabolize sugar and stores it as fat in our omentums.  Here's a great article I found written by Dr. Oz about belly fat.  Rosie watched a documentary last night and then afterward, she watched a half hour paid program  on how to get rid of belly fat.   Essentially she learned she needs to cut out sugar.  James then read from an article on what happens to your body when you drink a coca cola. 

Rosie thinks the symptoms that they listed in the article are exactly what happened to her yesterday after consuming so much sugar in the studio.  Rosie said she also got some comments on her blog from listeners that said that hearing them talk about food like they do on air makes the listeners sad.  Some of the bloggers had very obese parents and it reminded them of how their parents used to talk.  Rosie talked about the time that she cut out beer for a year and how much better she felt.  She wondered why she ever went back to it when she felt better when she wasn't doing it.

They discussed whole wheat bread, white flour and whole grains and which is better for you.  Bobby said that Dr. Oz says that whole grain is always best because it's the least processed.  Rosie learned that getting fruit is always a better alternative when you are craving something sweet.  Bobby read somewhere (possibly in Sugar Busters) that diabetes never existed until sugar was refined.  Janette recommended the book Sugar Blues and said there is no difference between white flour and sugar to our bodies.

THE LAST AIRBENDER, REDUCING SUGAR INTAKE CONTINUED AND CALLERS
Rosie and Blake went to see The Last Air Bender last night and Blake gave it a 5 on a scale of 1-10.  Rosie said it was "not good."  They still have their hopes up for Despicable Me.  Rosie said she was so proud of herself because she got water at the movies and unsweetened iced tea afterward at Chilis. 

Rosie was at her brother Eddie's house last weekend and his wife opened a drawer that had a carton of full-sized Three Musketeers bars in it!  She said she wouldn't be able to sleep with that in the house!  Jeannie does not feel the same way about sweets but brought in another Heath Bar Crunch Cake for everyone today and then wondered if she shouldn't bring them in anymore.  Janette was in favor of that.  Bobby said that he has learned that when dieting you shouldn't deprive yourself, you should just eat in moderation!  Janette didn't quite agree and said that she never would have been able to stop smoking marijuana if she allowed herself to do it in moderation.  Rosie said she had to take a nap after eating the huge piece of cake yesterday and Jeannie said she had a headache and almost threw up on the ride home. 

Pete suggested they make it a game to see who can come in with items to share that taste good and aren't all loaded with sugar.    Jeannie recommended the book Perfect Health: The Complete Mind/Body Guide by Deepak Chopra and said she's going to bring it in to share.  Janette said that when she saw Super Size Me she stopped going to fast food restaurants and has never been back.  She said that fast food is poison and why is a little poison for her body okay?  Rosie went one year without fast food when she saw that movie and thinks she needs to re-watch it.

Rosie then took several callers.  One caller is a self-proclaimed "coke-a-holic" and drinks up to 8 cans of coke per day!  She carries it with her if she goes somewhere and if something stressful in her life happens she even uses it to calm herself.  The caller had tried to cut down on Coke and couldn't get out of bed she had nausea and the shakes.  Rosie recommended she visit an online website for sugar addicts for ideas on how to quit.  A listener called in who found success off of The Sonoma Diet that taught her how to get the sugar out of her diet.  She warned the staff of allowing themselves a day to binge because she said that caused her to have a downward spiral to eating sugar again.  Bobby, who has lost over a 100 pounds!, talked about how he still can't give up Diet Pepsi. 

Rosie said she once went to the doctor and he asked her if she would allow her children to eat what she eats and she said no!  He said then she shouldn't allow herself to eat that way either.  Pete never had soda or fast food because it was so forbidden in his house growing up so he went "nuts" in college.  So he warned against the opposite extreme.  Rosie said it isn't right for her to sit around and complain about her body if she's going to mistreat it like she does by eating bad food.

Janette briefly mentioned that the stress hormone cortisol has been linked to belly fat too.

THE WATERSHED PROJECT DOCUMENTARY, BOOK TALK AND EATING AT NIGHT
Rosie said that last night she watched the documentary The Watershed.  She said it was heart- wrenching and found it hard to sleep after watching it.  The documentary is about a father that leaves a family and a mother that turns to alcohol.  Rosie thought it was heartbreaking and beautiful and recommended it to the listeners.  She said that it reminded her a little bit of The Glass Castle and said they were going to have the woman that made the documentary on next week.  Rosie said you can stream it on Amazon Video On Demand for only $2.99 and recommended her listeners watch it if they can. 

She's also reading The Passage and said it's getting more and more creepy.   She didn't especially like the book that Janette had recommended to her about Chinese orphanages.  Janette explained that she now wants to go to China on a medical mission to help children with Cleft lips and Cleft palates because of that book.    Rosie seemed inspired by this aspect of Janette's personality.  Rosie said that after the World Trade Towers fell Janette went right down to Ground Zero to help out and all Rosie wanted to do was to gather everyone she could and flee the area.  She said that that has always inspired her about Janette.  Janette said she feels that if the people can live through whatever tragedy they are facing the very least she can do is go and help.   Janette said that if Rosie likes The Passage then she would love Margaret Atwood's Oryx and Crake and Lady Oracle about weight. 

Rosie asked the staff if they think they'll be able to do no sugar because they all couldn't stick to their diet.  Janette pointed out that when Deirdre got serious and had a plan, she did very well on her diet and lost 15 pounds!

Rosie asked Jeannie if she allows her kids to eat before bed and Jeannie said that they are not allowed to eat anything after 9pm.  Rosie said that she needs to do that.  She said that Vivi rarely eats and when you say that to her she gets very defensive.  Jeannie's son is the same way.  Vivi also told Rosie she doesn't want to go to Miami for their mother-daughter weekend because she doesn't like the heat.  But once she found out that Jeannie's daughter Cami was going she got immediately excited about it.  She is excited to draw, play dress-up and dance with Cami.  Jeannie's eldest daughter Toni is coming with them too and Jeannie is so excited!  

TATTOOS, PSYCHIC MEDIUMS, ROSIE'S FAME AND I AM COMIC
Jeannie said she was thinking of getting a tattoo when they're in Miami this weekend!  Rosie was excited by this news and said she would treat her to the tattoo.  Jeannie joked and said she was going to get a big cake on her ass and then she admitted what she was really thinking of was a beautiful dragonfly.  She said that's her "hi" to her dad.  Jeannie said that when she went to a psychic she knew it was legit because at the end of the reading she asked the psychic what her "hi" sign to her dad was and the psychic closed her eyes and she saw a dragonfly.  Jeannie said that if you're open to the reading you will get more out of it.  Jeannie said she still has the reading on audio tape and listens to it years later.  The psychic also told her that she had a son who her father never met who is a likeness of her father.  Jeannie said that was true and her 3rd child was conceived a week after her father passed away and he looks just like her father. 

Rosie said that Jackie will not like that Jeannie is getting a tattoo and Jeannie said that that is because she and Jackie are opposite in every way.  She thought about getting it on her ankle like Rosie's.  Rosie said she would love it and would love to go with her!  Jeannie asked if Rosie could make a call and get them in and drop her name so they can get an appointment. 

Rosie said that her fame is weird nowadays.  She said she was out last night and she noticed a mom who was recognizing her and then told her children (who had no idea who she was) to go up to her and say hello.  She had to explain to the kids who she was.  Rosie and Jeannie's own children don't really even realize why Rosie is even famous.  Jeannie's son Ryan saw League of Their Own recently and wondered why Rosie was on TV!  Blake and Vivi watched League of Their Own the other weekend and were laughing with Rosie about her accent.  Rosie didn't know why she talked with such an accent in the movie and said it was as if she was channeling Fonzie!  Rosie loved doing League of Their Own.  Jeannie's favorite movie Rosie has ever done was Another Stakeout.

Rosie saw I Am Comic and described it to the listeners.  Rosie said it was pretty interesting.  She also said that Jerry Seinfeld's movie Comedian is "required viewing" if you're a comic.   Rosie said it was interesting to watch the documentary I Am Comic.  She asked Janette if she ever felt like she almost got too good at stand-up and it wasn't as fun anymore and Janette said she never had that problem.  They talked about the documentary and a comic who was famous for stealing jokes.  Janette said she hates it when comics steal jokes.  Brendan saw an interview with the comedian and said that he seems totally unaware of the  repercussions of his stealing!  Janette said she is not a fan of Robin Williams because she has heard that he is famous for stealing jokes from other comics.   Pete loves Robin.  Brendan said that he's heard Robin address this issue and he's said at the time he didn't think he was stealing, the jokes just comes to him on stage, fast.  Brendan wondered if there isn't a finite amount of reality that we can joke about and if after a while all comics are going to cover the same topics. 

Rosie said that tomorrow night (Wednesday) the Biography Channel is airing a piece they did on her!  Jeannie and Janette are both in it!  Everyone must watch it so set your tivos!   

MARGARET CHO!!!!

Rosie then introduced Margaret Cho who was in the studio to have a chat.  Rosie and Margaret began the interview by talking about her latest album entitled Cho Dependent.  Margaret said that ever since she saw Bette Midler do Beast of Burden with Mick Jagger she thought she wanted to find a way to do that.   Even though Bette considers herself primarily a singer, while Margaret considers her more of a comedian. 

Margaret reached out to singer songwriters that she knows and loves and they were very excited to work together.  She said that all comedians wish they were musicians because you don't have to get laughs as a singer!

Rosie and Margaret talked about the documentary I Am Comic.  They talked about being stand-ups and using old material to support their new material.  Rosie asked Margaret who her comic inspirations were and she listed Paula Poundstone and Henriette Mantel. 

Margaret said she doesn't write jokes ahead of time but instead she performs and then tries to remember the jokes after the fact.  She and Rosie also discussed the Joan Rivers documentary A Piece of Work. 

Rosie commented on how much she loved Margaret's book I'm the One That I Want and remembered the time she picked up the phone and called Margaret out of the blue to tell her how much she enjoyed it.  Rosie said it was awkward but Margaret loved it and said it was so sweet of Rosie to call.   Rosie said the book was moving and real and asked Margaret if it was hard for her to reveal some of the things she reveals in the book.  Margaret said that comedy is the true test of a storyteller and that writing is so much easier.  They talked about Joan Rivers and how they were surprised that she was so driven from her own pain.  It was surprising to Margaret to see Joan not so "on."  Rosie said there were moments in the Joan Rivers documentary that broke her heart.  Both Margaret and Rosie agreed that all the female comics need to come together and put on a tribute for Joan that is not mean spirited.

Margaret said that she never went to college and started doing comedy right out of high school.  She said she wished she would have gone to college because she thinks she might be smarter and might not care so much about dumb things.  She said perhaps she would be more interested in saving the planet for example.  Rosie also really regrets not finishing college and leaving early to do stand-up full-time.  Margaret said that the upside of not finishing college is that it gives them permission to do so many other things like art and music. 

Margaret said she will be touring soon and doing mostly stand-up in her act but also incorporating some of the songs from her latest CD.  She loves touring and is excited to have a bus this time!  Both Rosie and Margaret love the tour bus. 

Margaret is a regular on the show Drop Dead Diva on Lifetime.  She said that Josh Berman saw her do stand-up one night and came up to her and asked her if she wanted to be on the show.  She was the first person that was cast and now it's been a successful two years.  They both love actress Brooke Elliott and they discussed what a wonderful actress she is. 

Rosie joked with Margaret about the line in her act that said the secret to a successful marriage is to have a lot of sex....with a lot of different people.  Margaret said "it takes a village" to have a successful marriage.   

Margaret and Rosie got to talk a little bit about Margaret's mom.  Rosie loves her.  Margaret said that her parents were not happy when she came to them and told them that she wanted to do stand-up in fact, her mom said, "Maybe it's better if you just die."  Now however, she's super into it.  Her mom will stand in the lobby at events and shake hands with Margaret's fans and with every fan she sees she says that's like seeing "forty dollar."  Margaret has one brother who was born 5 years after she was born who has chosen to go into the family business with her parents.  Margaret is glad that he is doing it so she doesn't have to. 

Rosie loves all of Margaret's tattoos.  Margaret said that Ed Hartley did the ones on her stomach and back and Kat Von D did another one of the tattoos she has. Jeannie said that she has a girl crush on Kat.  Margaret said that Kat's more beautiful than you'd even expect and is very fun.  She's also a great tattoo artist and doesn't use a lot of pressure in her hand when tattooing so it's not totally painful.  Margaret said that she has no space left.  Rosie said that when something monumental happens in her life she feels the need to mark it with a tattoo.

Margaret likes to Twitter and Rosie talked to her about it.  Margaret said she has a small Facebook account and uses it to keep in touch with old comics she used to work with.  They talked about new comedians Charlyne Yi and Tig Notaro who they love.  They reminisced about the Atlanta comedy clubs, The Laughing Skull Lounge and The Punchline. 

Rosie asked Margaret about her CD Cho Dependant and the song entitled "I'm Sorry" which is based off a true story.  Margaret said that in 1993 she fell in love with one of the writers on the show All American Girl.  She loved him completely and held him in her heart for years.  When she turned 40 and she wanted to find out what he was doing, she googled him.  It described what he was doing and then it said in 2007 he was  convicted of the murder of his wife!  He stuffed her in the attic and she wasn't found until she was partially mummified!  Margaret said the fact that she had loved him and that could have been her  horrified her so she wrote a song about it.  She said that sometimes the only way to work through these things that happen in our lives is through humor.  Rosie added that she, Janette and Margaret all know and worked with the comedian who was a serial rapist named Vince Champ!  They talked about how weird that was.

THE HEATH BAR CAKE FIGHT AND THE CONSOLATION CRUMB CAKE THROWDOWN
Rosie (and her board op Lou) started today's show playing Rainy Days and Mondays because it was, well, Monday and it was rainy.  Rosie was not pleased at the weather and sounded a bit tired from her weekend of Tracy induced walking on Fire Island.  She was also thoroughly annoyed with Jeannie.  Here's why...Pete had "saved" Jeannie's computer from an early death for her so she made him her famous Heath Bar Crunch Cake as a thank you - complete with a red ribbon on top!  This was the cake that Jeannie made last week for everyone that everyone on the staff raved about.  Especially Rosie.  Jeannie explained that the special cake was "a present for Pete, Roseann!"  Jeannie also got Pete a 2010 Hallmark Star Trek Keepsake Ornament.  A Rosie Radio fan named Amelia facebook messaged Jeannie and suggested they have a Star Trek themed Christmas tree in the studio.  This gave Jeannie the idea for purchasing the ornament for Pete as a gift.  But that gift paled in comparison to the cake that Jeannie made for Pete.  Jeannie brought in a "consolation crumb cake" for the other members of the staff but the Heath Bar Cake was to be a special gift for Pete and Pete alone.  Rosie was pouting and being a big baby about the fact that she couldn't have any of the special cake!  Deirdre was on Rosie's side and thought Pete should share his cake with everyone.  Rosie reminded Jeannie that she wouldn't even have Pete to thank if it weren't for her because they never would have met!  Jeannie asked Rosie if she'd like her to make another cake for tomorrow for everyone to share and Rosie said her cake "wasn't even that good" (which Rosie admitted was a lie and she said it just to be mean).  Then the B word started flying and Jeannie and Rosie went at it (not really, it was all in fun and it was truly funny).  Janette chimed in and said she would like a Heath Bar Cake tomorrow!  Jeannie said she'd do it and and "they'll all remember that Roseann said she didn't want any."  Then Jeannie started texting Jackie and Rosie called her out on it.

Jeannie took over the radio show at this point because Rosie was pouting so she set the stage and let the listeners know everyone that was in the studio.  Rosie suggested Jeannie just take over the rest of the show and she would go bake something!  Rosie reminded Jeannie that they're going to her fabulous house this weekend in Miami and she better not forget it!

THE STAFF DESCRIBE THEIR WEEKENDS AND BOOK, TV & MOVIE RECOMMENDATIONS
Rosie said she went to Fire Island this weekend with Tracy.  It was supposed to be a romantic weekend getaway but her eldest daughter Chelsea came along because she was grounded and couldn't go on a trip to Mexico with her Ex Kelli and her siblings Blake and Vivi.  Rosie said she had a nice time except for the fact that Tracy wanted to walk around everywhere which Rosie found exhausting.  Rosie briefly commented on the naked sunbathers that they saw and if it is a prerequisite to have a banging body if you're going to go naked.  Deirdre seemed to have some experience with this and she said it is not a prerequisite to have a great body or a big "thingy" if you choose to go naked in public.  Jeannie didn't do anything but hang out in her backyard with her husband and their feet in the baby pool.  They also splurged on a slip 'n slide for the kids.  Jeannie did not partake in the slip 'n slide action but the mere thought of her slip 'n sliding made Rosie crack up.

Rosie said this weekend she noticed the large amount of "old lady underarm fat" she has.  Jeannie said her  son asked her this weekend if she had an extra boob because of the arm roll that was sticking out.  Rosie said she mostly tanned this weekend and caught up on some reading.  Rosie read Silent Tears: A Journey of Hope In A Chinese Orphanage at Janette's recommendation and she said she found it "mildly redundant and not very well written."  Janette found the details of the Chinese orphanages heartbreaking which was why she recommended it to her. Rosie also began reading The Passage, that her brother, Eddie, had given her.  She is still in the middle of it but she recommended it to Pete.  She described it as compelling and suspenseful and said it is giving her nightmares already.  Janette said she hates suspense, in films and in books. 

Speaking of suspense, Pete, Shoshana and Brendan all saw Inception this weekend.  Pete said he was on the edge of his seat for the entire movie.  Shoshana didn't especially like it and she, Brendan and Pete had an hour-long conversation this morning analyzing it.   

Pete said he wore a suit to a wedding this weekend that he unknowingly "outgrew" and when he picked up his daughter Sophia  he ripped out the arms.  He said, "You know you're in the wrong suit when you can't put anything into your pockets."  He hoped no one noticed but Janette assured him that someone probably did. 

Janette has been watching the NBC miniseries Persons Unknown and she described it to Rosie and recommended it to listeners. 

Rosie, who has been trying to spend less time online, said she did not take her computer to Fire Island this weekend!  (She did have her iPhone but it has horrible service up there, so that's okay.)  Parker, who is at a 5-week summer sleep-away high school prep camp, called Rosie while she was up there.  Rosie asked the other members of the studio how horrible it would be if she let him come home early.  She said that Parker is doing really well, getting straight As, and is really bored.  Janette and Jeannie said it's important that Parker finish what he started.  Deirdre, who went to sleep away camp as a kid, said she would miss home and her mom would miss her terribly but her mom would never pull her out early.  They discussed the pros and the cons of letting Parker come home early and the general consensus was that Rosie shouldn't allow him to come home until he's finished.  Janette said that doing what you promised you said you would do is a great lesson.  Rosie wasn't really happy with anyone's answers and said she still really wants him home. 

Rosie said her kids really want to go see The Last Airbender and they're dying to see Despicable Me.  However, Rosie had heard there was a strange representation of adoption in the film Despicable Me so she had Pete describe the plot to her.  She wasn't sure if she was going to see it or not in the end.   

THE BEST CAKE EVER, KIA'S HAMSTERS, THE OIL CAP AND THE END OF THE WORLD
After the commercial break they announced that Pete cut his Heath Bar cake into huge pieces for everyone on the staff but as a protest, Rosie didn't want hers.  Janette said it has to be the best cake ever and could be even better than the last one.   

Rosie wanted to discuss the new Kia Soul commercial she saw with the Hamsters which she loved.  They watched the commercial in the studio and discussed it. I'm not sure if this was the exact one they were discussing but here is one I found on YouTube. 

Pete explained that this commercial they were discussing was a follow up to the first one.   Rosie talked about how she can't imagine the advertising agency pitching it to Kia and what that conversation was like. 

Rosie wanted the latest updates on what's going on with the oil spill.  Pete explained that they have successfully installed an oil spill containment cap and so far so good.  They discussed the rumors that there could be oil leaking into the ocean floor.  Janette is still skeptical and thinks BP is primarily just all about trying to profit from the situation as much as possible.  Janette read an article in The Sunday New York Times about the hidden damage to the environment after an oil spill.  She said that they've now found that past oil disasters have allowed scientists to study what it does to nature over decades.  For example, today there are crabs that still act drunk and react slowly to predators at the location of a previous oil disaster.  She said that they've found oil eating microbes in the ocean and that the ocean would have done a better job cleaning itself from the oil rather than the dispersants.  She also read that erosion is a huge problem in general and the Louisiana marshes have been killed off at an extraordinary rate.  They now worry that the erosion will happen even faster now because we're losing the marsh grasses.  Janette said in nature, change is the only constant.

Rosie said that her girlfriend Tracy was upset about the methane bubble article Pete talked about last week.   Pete said he sees it could be a possibility that the world will come to an end in the next couple of weeks due to a methane bubble explosion but said he's not stressed about it.  Brendan doesn't agree with this theory at all.  

THE NEXT CELEBRITY REHAB, JEANNIE'S CAKE RECIPE AND OIL/WATER/WEIGHTLOSS
Rosie was excited that the new "cast" of Celebrity Rehab had been announced.   They discussed all the cast members and when Rosie mentioned Janice Dickinson, Deirdre said that Janice asked her to have sex with her once!  Deirdre said that when she booked Janice on the Wendy Williams Show they were backstage talking and Janice flat out asked her if she wanted to have sex.  Deirdre said she was like "See ya!"  When they listed off Celebrity Rehab cast member Leif Garrett, Rosie recalled the time they booked him on The Rosie O'Donnell Show and he came out to talk to her for the interview with a fresh burn mark on his face from an obvious drug related device.  He was on the show celebrating his sobriety. 

Rosie asked Jeannie if she had shared the recipe for the Heath Bar Crunch Cake with the listeners and Jeannie said she had sent it to Kelly for the Rosie Radio Recap Blog and to Pete for Rosie.com.  Little shout-out so I thought I'd include it in!  Here's the recipe:

Jeanne's Heath Bar Cake

1 Chocolate cake mix
1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk
1 small jar butterscotch topping
12 oz. whipped topping (i.e., Cool Whip)
4-5 Heath or Skor bars, chopped

Prepare cake according to directions on the package and bake in a 9 x 13 pan.
While still hot, use a wooden spoon handle to poke holes in the top of the cake. Pour condensed milk evenly over the top, then pour butterscotch topping evenly over that. Sprinkle half of chopped Heath bars over the top. Refrigerate at least 3 hours.

Spread whipped topping over cake, then sprinkle with remaining Heath pieces.

Jeannie said the recipe is the "easiest thing in the world."  She said you simply make a boxed chocolate cake and refrigerate it for a couple of hours and then "dump" the rest of the stuff on it.  Janette said she had a recipe for a lighter chocolate cake where you replace the fat ingredients (like oil and butter) with pureed beets.  No one asked for the recipe and Janette assured the listeners that there is no way it tastes as good as Jeannie's.  Jeannie admitted she doesn't even enjoy baking as much as she enjoys cooking food. 

Rosie said her brother Eddie made them Nigella Lawson's Chicken Cacciatore on Thursday night when they stayed at his house.  She said his garden is something to be seen, too!   

Rosie said she can't seem to get out of her bad mood today.  She said she's just tired and cranky.  Jeannie asked if the oil was in the Gulf Stream yet which it is not.  They think.  Janette said that the unique thing about this particular oil spill is the depth.  She warned that if we don't start moving towards sustainable energy this is just going to keep happening.  Then she enthusiastically began to tell everyone in the studio that you can now buy water in recyclable cardboard boxes!  Rosie then dropped cake down her cleavage and ate it.  They discussed the 5 second rule.  Rosie asked what ever happened to their plans to lose weight.  Jeannie said she lost 20 pounds since they went on air but she hasn't been able to lose any beyond that.  Deirdre has lost 14 pounds and has only 9 more to go!   And Rosie said the only bad thing about Fire Island is that you have to walk everywhere.  And then she said she doesn't think she's good at this job anymore because she wasn't in the mood to do it today. 

DJ JAMES ANTHONY, DEODORANT FOR YOUR BOOBS AND BALLS AND VIVI SHOCKS RO
Rosie started looking at James' Facebook photos and commented on his picture with the NJ Housewife Danielle.  Deirdre likes how in almost every photo that James has of himself on his Facebook he's shirtless.  Rosie said the next time she hosts a party she's going to hire James for the job!  He said he could make those amazing cookies he once made and Rosie said they won't invite Jeannie (still mad about the cake she made only for Pete)!

Brendan said he heard an advertisement on Sirius for deodorant for your sweaty breasts!  He said he never knew this was an issue for women!  The website is SoFresh.SoDry.com. This began an entire conversation about sweaty breasts and then sweaty balls!  Rosie took several callers on the topic too!  One listener has tried repeatedly to get on the show and talk to Rosie and couldn't believe that this was the topic that she finally got through to talk about.   The caller has big boobs and uses regular deodorant under her boobs.  She said that she feels gross during the day if she doesn't.  Rosie gave her $50 Visa giftcard "to get more deodorant for her tits."  The caller said she was a teacher and said she was going to buy school supplies for her students.  She then asked listeners to visit donorschoose.org where you can donate money to teachers who need to buy school supplies for their students.  Rosie took another caller who puts deodorant under her boobs too!  She works outside all day and said when it's 100 degrees, you have to do something.  She said her girlfriend puts powder under her boobs.  Janette uses powder too and didn't start wearing a bra until she was 42 years old because she never needed one.  Pete wondered if the powder would become a paste which totally reminded me of that Friends episode when Ross wears the leather pants and then puts on lotion and powder on his legs in an attempt to get them back on and it becomes a paste.  Here's a link to it on YouTube if you have never seen it.  

This launched an entire discussion about sweaty ass crack.  Rosie seemed concerned it wasn't a good show today or if they weren't really discussing anything of interest to the listeners.  Pete said they have tons of calls on the topic!

Rosie said that recently they were watching a show on TLC or the Discovery Heath Channel about the fattest man in the world having surgery.  She said that he lost some weight and was eventually able to roll himself over.  She said that his thighs were pretty rolly and it was hard to discern what was what.  When they were watching it Vivi said, "I think that's his ball sack."  Rosie said she started laughing so hard she almost peed herself. 

CYBILL SHEPHERD
Rosie announced that Cybill Shepherd was on the phone!  Cybill said she's doing great and excited about her recent roles.  Cybil is starring in The Client List which airs tonight at 9pm on Lifetime.  She said she gets to play a mother in a small Texas town with big hair and she's really liking the character portrayals she's getting to play. 

Rosie commented on how fabulous Cybill looks and asked her about what it's like being 60.  Cybill said she never had an issue discussing her age.   Cybill's daughter Clementine is in Show-Business and they discussed what it was like working together with her daughter on the Showtime series The L Word.  Cybill said that working with Clementine on The L Word was the happiest time of her life.  She described a scene where her character and her daughter's character had to have an argument and Cybill thought her daughter was really mad at her!    Cybill said she was okay with her daughter going into acting but wanted her to realize that rejection is a big part of it.  Luckily Clementine is doing very well with her acting career!  Cybill's other daughter, Ariel, just graduated from Yale and is a playwright and a screenwriter.  Cybill is so proud!  And her son Zach graduates from the University of Pennsylvania next year. 

Rosie asked Cybill what it was like raising teens as Rosie is just entering that stage of parenting and Cybill said that the teen years are difficult but they become hyper-difficult when they get their drivers license.  Cybill said the first time she rode with Clementine when she was driving she sat in the backseat with a Jack Daniels.  Rosie said the eye-rolling from her teenage daughter Chelsea annoys her and is constant. 

Rosie asked Cybill about the beginning of her career.  Cybill said her cousin entered her into the  Ms. Teenage Memphis pageant and she won.  Then she entered the Ms. Teenage America pageant but she didn't win and she hated losing.  Cybill then started modeling and didn't really like it but she started to make some  good money doing it.  A talent scout found her and had her compete in the Model of the Year contest.  Cybill won!   

Rosie asked Cybill about how outspoken she is for civil rights.  Cybill explained that she was raised in the segregated South but she has always been a advocate for civil rights.  In 1968 an announcer came over the high school PA and dismissed the school early because Martin Luther King had been assassinated only 3 miles from her home.  Cybill said she was struck by shame and the guilt that she had done nothing to support civil rights.  She said that it became an explosive force inside her to understand and to take steps to help the cause of equal rights for all people including the LGBT community.  In 1993 Cybill marched on Washington for the LGBT community because she knows that we all have the same investment for equal rights whether we're gay or not.  Cybill's one daughter is a lesbian and her other daughter considers herself bisexual.  

Rosie asked Cybill about the most defining moment of her career and she said there have been many moments but right now what comes to mind are her recent roles in The Client List and on Drop Dead Diva.  She said she is making that transition to a character actor and she loves it.  Rosie and Cybill talked about Drop Dead Diva and how much fun it is to do it!

THE PRICE IS RIGHT AND DREW CAREY EXPLAINED
Pete recently found out the reason that Drew Carey had no reaction to the time that a contestant on the Price Is Right guessed the cost of the Showcase Showdown dead on the nose.  Pete said he found an interview with the contestant and he said that during commercial break a woman backstage was talking to Drew and was pale white because everyone had won all their games that day.  The Price Is Right had just let go of an Executive Producer and they thought that the EP had rigged the game as a final F__K YOU.   When the final Showcase Showdown came around Drew had been told that they probably weren't going to ever air the show because it had been rigged.  That was why he had no reaction.   Rosie said she is happy that that's the reason Drew was so under-enthused and seemed happy to have it explained.

GAME
Brendan announced a game for everyone to play.  The game was to name the musical by it's opening line.  He said it may be a spoken line or it may be a lyric to an opening song.  They had a caller on the phone named Laura who was playing too.   

ROUND ONE
Janette - "There's a bright golden haze in the meadow." She guessed Brigadoon but the answer was Oklahoma so she was out.  
Jeannie - "Good news, she's dead.  The Witch of the West is dead."  She guessed The Wizard of Oz but the answer was Wicked so she was out.
Bobby - "I got the horse right here, named Paul Revere." The answer was Guys and Dolls and he got it and Rosie and Bobby then launched into the song together!   
Rosie - "Look down, look down, don't look em in the eye."  The answer was Les Mis and she got it.
Pete - "Opening night. It's opening night." The answer was The Producers and he got it.
Laura (the caller)- "There's no business like like show-business."  The answer was Annie Get Your Gun but she didn't get it.  Rosie and Bobby did sing the entire song though and it was hilarious!  She was out.

Bobby -  "Cash for the merchandise. Cash for the button hooks."   The answer was Music Man but he didn't get it so he was out.   
Rosie -  "Again, step, kick, kick, kick, kick, turn. Again." The answer was Chorus Line and she got it and they sang the whole song.

VEGETARIANISM, WHY MISSY HATES TIMMY, AND THE ART OF TIPPING
Rosie started today's show talking to her assistant and segment producer Shoshana about her Vegetarianism.  Shoshana has worked for Rosie for a while and Rosie just found out that she's a vegetarian.  My guess is that Shoshana knows everything that Rosie will and won't eat though, HA!   Shoshana said she's not a vegan and she will eat butter, eggs and dairy.  She will not eat meat, chicken or fish.  Shoshana said when she was about 10 years old she remembers seeing a whole fish on a plate, eyes and all, and that was when she decided to cut out fish.  Then she went to a petting zoo and she had no interest in petting the animals because they were so dirty and smelly.  If she didn't want to pet them, she thought then  why would she want to eat them.  She doesn't miss any meats or chicken because she enjoys the meat and chicken substitutes but she hasn't been able to find a hot dog substitute she likes so she does miss them though only by smell, she would never consider eating one.  Rosie talked about some delicious locavore hot dogs that Tracy picked up for them. 

Pete admitted to seeing Rosie's chickens on the compound and thinking how yummy they look to him.  Pete does have issues eating eggs because of the Sarah Silverman joke.  It is about a chicken looking at an egg and saying "I can't believe this came out of my pussy."  Milk grosses Shoshana out too. 

Then Rosie's Chihuahua Missy started growling and shaking uncontrollably and no one in the studio knew why until Rosie discovered that her brother Timmy had entered the radio show house.  Missy hates Timmy and she could feel his presence!   Rosie made Timmy tell the story about why Missy hates him so much.  Timmy said that he was helping a repairman fix the roof and he went into the house to retrieve some drills for him and Missy started guarding the door and wouldn't let him leave.  He joked that he wanted to kick the dog to make it move but instead he buzzed one of the electric drills at the dog.  Missy got so scared that she lifted her leg and shot a cannonball poop at him!  Timmy said no one ever listens to him and he felt very empowered by this.

Rosie said that Vivi gets a new dog on her birthday.  She's been watching animal shelter commercials and has decided that instead of getting a purebred they are going to rescue a dog from the North Shore Animal League.  Janette, ever the cat lover, talked about how much easier cats are and said that all you have to do to potty train a kitten is show them the litter box and they're done.  Rosie said that Missy was supposedly already potty-trained when Rosie got her but she's not and she pees everywhere.  They talked about the Pottery Barn couch cushion that she likes to pee on that they keep having to send out to be cleaned.  Bobby has a Chihuahua too named Abby and said he didn't have a problem potty-training her at all! 

Rosie said she is excited to go to Fire Island for the weekend.  She said she doesn't mind the heat as long as  there is water around to go into and as long as no one makes fun of her in her swimsuit.  Janette said she will be walking her driveway this weekend for exercise.  Her driveway is 1/10th of a mile long and a very steep hill so her plans are to walk up and down it 10 times to make a mile. 

Rosie asked Janette if she considered smoking pot at all while on vacation and she did not!  After years of off and on pot smoking to treat her anxiety Janette decided to stop two months ago.  She hasn't smoked since!  She never expected she would ever be able to quit it completely and said she couldn't feel better about her decision. 

Rosie told Pete that someone on her blog wrote to her and said you can get the "zoom" feature that's available on the new Iphone by updating your old Iphone on the website.  

Shoshana read an article that studied people that tip at restaurants.  The study showed that 49% of the participants had at one time or another left a restaurant without tipping because the service was so bad.  Rosie asked if anyone in the studio has not left a tip?  Rosie did that one time a long time ago when the service was very bad and the waiter was very rude to her.  She merely paid the bill and left.  Janette has never not left a tip but she has complained to management.  Shoshana never has never not left a tip but admitted she's never had such horrible service to warrant not leaving a tip.  Pete tips in general and if it's really good service he leaves even more money.  But he admitted if the wait staff treats him like he's inconveniencing them by eating at their establishment he will not leave a tip.  Janette used to be a waitress and if she wasn't left a tip she would chase the customers outside the restaurant and ask them if the service was bad and why they didn't tip?  Pete described an experience he had with horrible service at a restaurant when he only left the waiter a couple dollars.  Bobby said he couldn't not leave a tip but if the service was bad he would only leave 15% and then complain to management.  They discussed tipping chamber maids and Rosie admitted she never knew you were supposed to leave a tip at a hotel until one time she was working with another comic on the road and saw him do it.  Rosie now leaves tips for chamber maids on the nightstand along with a note that says thank you.  They then discussed tipping at tip jars in convenience stores and ice cream parlors.  Bobby said he has friends who work in the piano bars who don't make anything but tips. They talked about tipping massage therapists and Janette admitted to tipping her massage therapist a lot because she feels so badly that they have to touch her body. 

So, little Rosie story...Liz, Michele and I (and other friends I've met through Rosie) were once in Rosie's home town of Nyack for the America premiere and we went to a bar there.  We asked the waiter if Rosie had ever been in that particular establishment and he told us that she had and the waitstaff always argued about who got to wait on her table because she gives a 100% tip.  She fucking rocks, that's all I'm saying. 

A SMALL ACT AND JENNIFER ARNOLD 
Rosie talked about an HBO Documentary she saw recently called A Small Act - about a woman who sponsored a child and what happens because of that small act of kindness.  Rosie called it profound, moving and uplifting. Watch the trailer below:

Rosie then introduced the filmmaker Jennifer Arnold who was on the phone to discuss her HBO documentary A Small Act.  A Small Act is not Jennifer's first documentary but it is her first feature film.  Jennifer told Rosie about how she got the idea for the film.  Jennifer went to the University of Nairobi for a year abroad and one of her friends at the University had been sponsored as a child.  Jennifer heard another wonderful story about a man who was sponsored and what he had done with his life and thought it would be a great idea for a film.  The man in the film was looking for the woman who sponsored his education and had since gone to Harvard and worked for the UN. The woman who sponsored him was Swedish so he got in touch with the Swedish Ambassador in Kenya who contacted the woman to ask her if she ever remembered sponsoring a boy in Kenya.  She remembered doing it but it was over 25 years ago.  He wrote her a letter and she had no idea that he had been walking around with her name in his mind for all these years as the angel that changed his life.  To her, it was just something very minor she had done and to him it was everything.

Rosie and Jennifer talked about the documentary, the testing the children have to go through, the notification process of who receives scholarships and what happens to those that do not.  In the documentary there were two children who were not chosen for the sponsorship program and Rosie said it broke her heart.  Jennifer explained that they waited until filming was completed (because they didn't want to influence the story they were trying to tell) and they stepped up and sponsored the two.  Rosie was so glad that they did and said she would have been haunted by their images if they had not. 

Jennifer said the film received an unbelievable response at Sundance and after the screening they raised $90,000 in only 10 days!  She said that audience members are changing people's lives directly from the film and they've created the Network For Good where you can put in your zip-code and find organizations in your area that you can give to.  Or, you can visit HBO Documentaries on Facebook were you can get giftcards that you can redeem for any charity you want.  They both discussed the President Documentary and Family Programming for HBO and Cinemax, Sheila Nevins whom they agreed was "the heart and soul of HBO documentaries."  Rosie said there is no one better and she hopes to be just like her when she grows up.  Rosie thanked Jennifer for calling in and for her inspiring film. 

SWIMSUITS, SWIMMING AND WATERPARKS
Then began an entire conversation about the dreaded swimsuit.  Jeannie got a swimsuit as a gift for her birthday from her 8 year old for their Mother/daughter trip to Miami.  Jeannie said it is like a swim dress/muumuu and has big black and white flowers all over it.  It is also a "bust enhancing bathing suit" and Jeannie said no one her size needs bust enhancement.  Her husband calls her "torpedo tits" in it.  Jeannie apologized to Rosie for being mean to her about the one that she wore to the Memorial Day party.  Jeannie said her issues with Rosie's swimsuit had more to do with her own issues with her size and the types of suits they can fit in than Rosie's suit.   

Janette hasn't owned a bathing suit in 20 years because her top size needs to be much smaller than the bottom.  Rosie said they got a lovely box of swimsuits from a website called Trunkettes.  She thanked, Hillary, the woman who sent them the suits and they opened the box and described the suits on air.  They seemed to really like them!

Rosie asked Janette is she would ever consider going to a water-park and Janette laughed and said that water-parks are "a fungus breeding ground."  She said the same stuff they put in pools are what her sister Lanette uses to pickle her metal!  (whatever that means!)  Janette used to swim laps at a gym near her home but they closed it.  And then Rosie got a fantastic job and hired her and there wasn't any more time for swimming.  Janette admitted that she's not comfortable any place where there are lots of people and Bobby said he's surprised she ever leaves the house.

THE END OF THE WORLD, DEATH, ANCESTORS AND WHAT HAPPENS AFTER WE DIE
Pete said he recently read on Helium.com that geologists can point to a couple different times in the Earth's history that a giant methane bubble has come up through the center of the Earth and caused massive extinctions.  Based on the large amount of methane coming out of the leak in the Gulf of Mexico and the pressure disparity, they are predicting that in the next 6 months another methane bubble will pop and cause the extinction of all humans.  Pete's not all that concerned which completely shocked Rosie.  Jeannie said if it's beyond our control why worry about it!  Janette's heart was beating fast and her mouth was dry just thinking about the possibility. 

Rosie then started to talk to Janette about her deep fear of death.  She explained that we're all going to die, that it's a part of life, so why be so afraid about it?  Janette said that she knows it's an irrational fear and she knows she's going to die but she cannot help being afraid.  Janette said she admires people who don't stress about it as much as she does and wishes she could be that way.  Janette does not believe in an afterlife and believes that when you die, you're dead.  Period.  She also worries that death invalidates her life. Janette said that in her 20s she remembers telling her therapist that if we're all waiting to die, what's the point of living?  Pete said the point of living is to not feel like you've wasted the one life that you have.  Janette said that her father's death a few years ago was the first death of someone really close to her but she has always been afraid of death.  She said her father's death was peaceful but there was that goneness, that disappearance, that terrified her.  Rosie told Janette she needs to see the documentary No One Dies In Lily Dale about mediums who communicate with the souls of the deceased.  She said that that documentary might give her some peace about death.  Janette said if she believed in anything other than "worms and blackness" she probably wouldn't be so afriad.  

Janette also thinks that part of the fear of dying stems from the fact that she does not have children to carry on her family.  She explained that she is the last recipient of the items that have been handed down in her family and she worries who will care for them once she's gone?  Janette said she had a few moments of wanting kids in her life but she didn't believe she'd be a good mother or a good parent.  Jeannie said her only fear of death is that she will leave her children without a mother.  It is not fear of death itself.  Bobby does not feel his life will be wasted when he's gone.  He's happy with all he's accomplished and the people who he has loved and have loved him. 

Janette said her downstairs is filled with all of her old things and remnants of the old house she grew up in.  She has many family heirlooms including books from the 1700s. Pete suggested giving some of those things to a museum.  Pete's grandfather has been giving stuff to museums and he gave away paintings that held historical significance to a museum that displays them as their prized possessions. 

Janette told a very emotional and heart-breaking story about an old beautiful pail that had been handed down in her family that was mistakenly ruined by her beloved boyfriend Barry.  To this day if you ask Barry about it he cries, he feels so badly that he ruined it.  The bucket was used to carry her ancestor when they went to fight the British and the story was told through the generations.  Janette wept as she told Rosie the story of the treasured heirloom.  When it happened, Janette said she felt an incredible sense of loss because those ancestors were extremely real to her and were all the family that she had.  Bobby tried to comfort Janette by telling her that the story of the pail is so much more important than the pail itself.  But to Janette it was these family heirlooms that proved to her that she "wasn't a piece of crap" and that she mattered.

Rosie thinks Janette's attachment to her ancestors is fascinating because she does not have those same feelings towards her heritage or ancestors.  Soon she is going to be going back to Ireland with her brother Eddie to follow her mother's ancestry for the program Who Do You Think You Are and she admitted she's not that invested in the outcome.  She wondered if that was because she wasn't brought up with the knowledge and stories of her history as Janette was.  Janette said that her ancestors and their stories are, in a way, her religion.   Rosie wondered about Janette's emotional attachment to "things" and said she keeps wondering if that is because her father was a hoarder.  Jeannie, who's mother is a hoarder, remembered her therapist once telling her that if she got rid of her mother's things it would almost be like she was dying a physical death.  Rosie was surprised at the emotion that the story of the pail evoked in Janette and wondered if her attachment to things and her resistance to intensely loving people held any connection.  Rosie ended the conversation by thanking Janette again for her complete and total honesty and being so forthcoming. 

GAME - BEFORE AND AFTER
The game was to name the famous people, before and after.  The first famous person shares their last name with the first name of the second famous person.  Aww, crap.  I can't explain it well.  Just read along and get a pen and paper so you can play too!  I'll give you the first one and then the answers will be below in an answer key. Keep in mind they had a time limit and we don't so it's easier.
